Hello to our family and friends and anyone else interested in following us around the world!
We are Charlie and Emily Becker! This June we got married at Beaver Meadows Resort in Red Feather Lakes, CO. We are looking forward to a lifetime of adventures together as a family with Emily’s kids. Our favorite adventures are ones where we can experience a new culture on a budget, or just explore our own backyard in Northern Colorado. Come follow along with us.
Hi, I’m Emily. I grew up in the Midwest but have lived in New England, Mississippi, Pennsylvania, and now Colorado. I studied Environmental Science in college, mostly because I love all things science and I wanted to be outside as much as possible in my future jobs. While in college, I took a year off to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail. While I only completed 1300 miles of the 2000+ mile trail, it was a life changing event that gave me a taste for the kind of adventure I wanted to keep having. After marrying and having my kids young, I put my big adventures aside to stay home and experience the daily small adventures of raising two boys. My goal for my kids has always been that they grow to be men of character who love others, love learning, and love adventure. They are now 13 and almost 15 and well on their way. Four years ago, my husband of 12 1/2 years tragically died. It was another one of those life changing moments that could have destroyed us. While the boys and I will never stop grieving our loss, we have also chosen to not stop living a life that their dad would be proud of. One of the decisions we made in order to keep living large was to pack up our things and move across the country to Fort Collins, Colorado. A few months after moving here I decided that my next big (and scary) adventure was to take some tentative steps into the world of dating. In February of 2016, I stepped into an Italian restaurant to meet a man who I had only seen in pictures on eHarmony. After an over 5 hour first date, I knew I was in trouble. If I could have could have written up a profile of a man who was perfect for me, Charlie would still exceed those hopes and dreams. I didn’t even know what to ask for and what I was looking for, but I knew I had found it in him. He is my lover, my best friend, my partner, and an incredible role model for my boys. I know that life doesn’t give us any promises, but whether I get one year or 50 with him, I will cherish every moment.
Hi, I’m Charlie. I grew up in Michigan and went to school at Grove City College, PA and Michigan State University. I studied Computer Science at MSU and then took a job with Hewlett-Packard in Fort Collins, Colorado. I’ve lived here since 2000. I worked at HP for 12 years and now do freelance application development and own the company LocalScans. In 2014 I chose to sell most of my stuff, and ended up traveling the world for 8 months. When I returned to Fort Collins I built a 136 sq ft tiny house, and lived in it for over two years, unbeknownst to most of my neighbors! I dated for close to 30 years before I met Emily, and I believe it wasn’t until the decisions I made to simplify, travel, and live in my tiny house, that I was really even ready to fall in love with someone. During Christmas of 2015 I was visiting my parents in Indialantic, Florida when I got an eHarmony email from Emily. We shared a few emails, and the day after I got back into town, we went on our first date and did the first Friday art walk that happens in Fort Collins every month. Over that first date and the next couple weeks I began to realize that I could trust her with my heart and that we shared the same passion of living simple and traveling. I now have this amazing girl in my life and two great kids, and I look forward to all the adventures that we will share together!
Here’s to many years of adventures together!
